Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hunter edition general I bought this six months ago, overall somewhat disappointed. The engine had a large oil leak when used in cold weather (possible breather froze and pressured) that did go away after dealer could find no issue. The handles on the full doors are not good, broke driver side handle on the outside of the door after two months with no abuse. This caused me to keep the window open to open the door resulting in the window bracket hitting the seatbelt mount inside the cab and breaking also. The rear window panel release for cab doors hits the seatbelt mount when you shut the door which makes it more difficult to latch the door. Just a bad spot to make the shoulder mount on seatbelt in the same location that the window latch needs to be at when you shut the door. Happy with the suspension, ride, and steering.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great rig but not with Polaris tip-up windshield. I love the machine. It has power up the wazoo. the seats are comfortable. Before I picked it up, they installed the high dollar glass windshield and rear window. Shortly after getting it home, the windshield started to show cracks at two different mounting spots. This is with no offroading at all. Just temperature changes. Not getting anywhere with Polaris warranty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The good and the bag I bought the general 1000 the beginning of this year. I also drove the can Am commander driving the two side by side the general was a clear winner. The power of the general is clean and potent the suspension is good but more work than hard play ground clearance is good stock tiers perform exselent seating is comfortable. Plastic on body dose not a line well lots of openings that need protection to keep mud and rocks from damaging critical parts like the battery, fule tank and radiator. Over all an exselent machine but for the money should not need to buy extra protection for basic things like battery, fule tank and radiator.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from polaris general with ride command I've only got a half a tank of fuel ran thru it since I bought it in feb. right off the showroom floor the screen for the ride command wouldn't light up, at all. Should have been a clue. They think they have it fixed this time. HERES HOPING. The stereo does not recognize my ipod in Bluetooth or hooked to the usb port also has no aux port for my serius radio. Needs more clearance the one ride I went on it hit the bottom so many times my grandson said I think we better stop an see if we still have a muffler. He's 6 an we were in a 2 seater. Very disapointed

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hoo Rah Almost perfect! Unit has plenty of power, ride is very good, seats are very comfortable. My only complaints is the roof doesn't go out even or past the doors, so when it rains it will still come in on you. I would like to see either a molded drip rail that would extend out even with the doors or a wider roof with drip rail built in. And my other issue is the fenders, they are practically useless as far as keeping mud and wet limerock etc from spraying all over the sides and in the cab.

Coming from owning a 2014 can am maverick this is a change but I needed a bed Keeps up in trails with other sxs on the market and the rzrs. Yard work the bed really comes in handy for gravel and firewood. Comfortable seats. Doors are an add plus. Corner is okay. Wish there was a selectable power steering like can am has. Drain plugs on the floor fall out easy. You will lose those first. The knock noise as it goes into gear before you press the gas is louder than I’d like but overall it’s a nice machine. I would recommend and have to friends and family

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Polaris General Flaws I purchased a Polaris General and on my first excursion - just a little trail ride for a wiener roast up in the mountains. A stick or rock kicked up and broke the drivers side front inner fender as they are just made of plastic. Replacing this is a very long and tedious effort for the average person. Took me about 15 hours, that is with some help and it is definitely a two person job in some spots. Worse than that there is no after market safety shield to add which makes me even angrier, also I completed the new purchase survey that Polaris sent me and was very up front about this, so much so I thought someone would contact me. I have not been contacted because this is in my opinion a serious safety flaw.

I wish it would work with some of the other systems so it could be used like for the Onx map system to work together. Mine has some issues because it won't keep the mapping that start recording. Keeps deleting, The stereo keeps rising the volume but won't go back down when you let the engine idle back down. Keeps deleting my waypoints

Rated 4 out of 5 by from General I bought this 2 months ago. Got the new automatic plow package and heater. The plow system doesn't fit right to activate the kickstand and was told I had to remove the front brush guard. Well that's not going to happen because the installation schematics all show the front brush guard on the machine. The heater works for a day at a time. The fuse was replaced once by the dealer. Brought it home in working order. 3 days later we got some snow so I fired up the General to do some plowing and the heater wasn't working again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from General vs Ranger Spent months before spring of 2020 trying to decide. Then I got a crew north star xp1000. Nice, but issues. Dust! Transmission! 2021, got the General. I think it is a better machine! The only downfall is the difficulty and expense of making it an Ohio daily machine. No need for AC, but better door uppers, defrost, wipers would be great. Who knows, maybe replace the Ranger w another!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of both worlds I bought this unit because of the capabilities of work and play but have extremely enjoyed the trail riding capabilities it possesses on the trails with the load it can handle. I have been impressed with the power and the ride is comfortable in the seats. My wife and I have enjoyed our time together in our General. Price point is a little steep but I understand why. Overall I have been pleased with this unit. I am a little unhappy about the plastics on the machine not fitting together in some places but what can you do.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great ride, missing attention to detail I have had the bike about 3 months now and pleased overall with the ride, comfort and performance. What I have not liked was the minor issues I have been having, for example; The door don't fit right and rattle all the time, the dump box is the same. The shift indicator came off when away on a long run and could only drive in low, replaced a $2 clip and was back in business. When assembled at the dealership not all bolts were tight and had to torque all the bolts. The belt also made a lot of clunking noise, not sure if this is because of break in but sounds ruff.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre This Polaris continues to exhibit poor fit and finish on the body panels and the seats (upholstery is sub par) -The doors rattle and there are a lot of other creeks and rattles coming from the chassis. Parts are too expensive and I believe the completion is going to win out. In addition the stereo will not allow a blue tooth connection to our I pod . Over all the unit is below average in my opinion. ALSO _ the wheel wells are dirt traps - why these areas do not have a liner and larger wheel flares is beyond be - the unit slings mud and water everywhere instead of deflecting it away fro the passenger compartment

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Josh beitel This is an amazing machine I have owned multiple side by sides and nothing compares to this machine There are few features that need addressed: The speaker that is mounted has no bass so everything you listen to is high pitch which is very frustrating The drain caps in the floor I have 2 of them that pop out regularly when I have guesses riding with boots I am using this machine to hunt and travel from spot to spot When u hit water and it comes up thru a drain plug hole that’s frustrating I love the power great versatility for this hybrid machine

Rated 5 out of 5 by from power, traction and handling super My cousin and I bought a pair of these about two months ago and we are glad we did. I hoped it would deliver the Polaris reliability and so far so good. Haven't put enough hours on it yet to give it a good review but I really like it so far. One thing I can say is that it climbs better than my polaris 800 sportsman quad. These things are unbelievable. The bed is large enough that we can store all of our gear for a day ride without problem. The EPS steering is the only way to go on these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good machine overall. Bought a 2020 general 1000 EPS deluxe. This is my first SxS. Overall I am pleased. I do not have the 12 inches of ground clearance that is advertised, more like 10 1/2. I can clear most obstacles that I am encountering. The ride is great and more than enough power. It does have a lot of rattles but I am finding most and eliminating them. Mostly doors and brakes. Very comfortable interior. The vehicle came with the front end out of alignment, will have dealer look at it. Added some nice accessories. Fender flares are a must. the Polaris flares installed easily and do a great job and fit and look great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic!! My wife and I bought the General to replace our 800 XP Ranger. Our Ranger was a 2010 model and served us very well. We wanted to get something that was more trail friendly on longer rides, but still offered us the utility use around our property. When we first took it out on a short ride we notice that the ride was much smoother and the power was awesome!! The color we picked set it apart from most UTV's in our area. We had a heater and stereo installed when we made our purchase and both have made a big difference. The heater works well and to best sum it up a warm and happy wife makes for a happy husband. The power and comfort of this machine has everything I was looking for and more in our upgrade. I wish that I would have upgraded sooner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the bike. Not the Polaris Company Love my bike but Polaris warranty isnt worth a ”flip”!! Water got in the clutch housing and long story short I needed a new clutch and belt. They wouldn’t warranty it because of the water that got in it. What are these bikes made for?? To sit in the garage or be used. Why not make the housing for the belt actually seal worth a “flip” so water couldn’t get in so easily. Y’all make it so it don’t deal up properly and then don’t cover it if water gets inside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything we wanted We actually went into the dealer with the intent of buying two Sportsman ATV's. I had wanted to get a Ranger for some time and we both were not keen on the RZR because it just seemed only trail focused. My girlfriend saw the general and jumped right into the drivers seat. So as they say the rest is history, we went home with the General that day. We love it for the trails. For working around the property. I am looking forward for Ice Fishing season to start. I will eventually put tracks on it for winter time use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reverse headlight and winch switch location Please As a lot of the trails we run at night have buggies going both ways, the need to switch from highly to low beams often is real. Getting my hand down between the small space between the door and steering wheel while moving can be tricky. Moving the witch rocker to the left of the wheel makes more sense as we don’t use that while moving and the head light will then be with the other rocker switches so we can power down the other lights all in the same place/motion. Off not that, then Don’t wrap the harness in such a way that we can’t relocate ourselves. Please find a better air intake solution/location than above the wheel on the side! Most of us don’t drive straight up rivers, we need to cross them, so having the air intake broadside to the current seems silly. My RZR has it between the seats at shoulder height. So the General is supposedly the best of both worlds, it missed the common sense of air intake and rocker switch location. In the accessories area, please come out with a full door solution with a real window solution. Your option now wants me to fold the window forward. Anyone who rides wooded trails will figure out quickly that the window will trap branches and be torn off in short order. Real storage options in the cab please! I don’t baby my General and it hasn’t let me down yet, just need to address the fit and finish issues so I don’t regret not gonna with the CanAm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Have now owned our General for about 4 months, it is simply the best side by side I’ve ever used. Capable of all mud, trails, and use around camp that we have tried. On the recent Lewis County Buck Run I pulled two other ATVs out that we’re stuck after running circles around them in the muck. It throws you back in the seat when you floor it and goes up and down every angle we have tried. My 14 year old step-daughter handles it with ease. If I had one complaint it would be the number of small areas all around the bottom and back that simply fill with mud and are obnoxious to clean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this side by side! My husband purchased this for me for mother’s day and we both completely agree that it’s was the best fit for everything we wanted. I love that the full high doors come stock, love all of the accessory options. We have 3 kids so we opted for a bench seat in the back and it’s so nice to have them harnessed up! Surprising to me we’ve actually used the gps quite a bit riding out on forest service land to see where different trails end up and finding new ways back to the truck. We love the sound bar and it was a big selling point for us! Love this machine and would definitely recommend

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor quality Within 2 weeks of buying a new unit the front axle broke. Polaris covered it but it was still in the shop for 2 weeks. Now one side of tailgate doesn’t latch and high beam switch won’t stay on. The unit has 20 hours on it and we only ride around on our 150 acres and don’t ride hard. For 24k it’s not worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged and Sporty! I initially resisted the idea of going to a General because I liked the trail manners and over all capability of my RZR Trail 50". Then I drove my cousin's new General and was so impressed with it's handling, fit and finish, and power to weight I knew I wanted one. Before I even had a chance to comment to my wife ( who was riding with shotgun) she turned to me and said" We have got to get one of these!" So, pretending she had to twist my arm, we made the switch and I couldn't be happier!.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good machine overall. Bought a 2020 general 1000 EPS deluxe. This is my first SxS. Overall I am pleased. I do not have the 12 inches of ground clearance that is advertised, more like 10 1/2. I can clear most obstacles that I am encountering. The ride is great and more than enough power. It does have a lot of rattles but I am finding most and eliminating them. Mostly doors and brakes. Very comfortable interior. The vehicle came with the front end out of alignment, will have dealer look at it. Added some nice accessories. Fender flares are a must. the Polaris flares installed easily and do a great job and fit and look great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic!! My wife and I bought the General to replace our 800 XP Ranger. Our Ranger was a 2010 model and served us very well. We wanted to get something that was more trail friendly on longer rides, but still offered us the utility use around our property. When we first took it out on a short ride we notice that the ride was much smoother and the power was awesome!! The color we picked set it apart from most UTV's in our area. We had a heater and stereo installed when we made our purchase and both have made a big difference. The heater works well and to best sum it up a warm and happy wife makes for a happy husband. The power and comfort of this machine has everything I was looking for and more in our upgrade. I wish that I would have upgraded sooner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the bike. Not the Polaris Company Love my bike but Polaris warranty isnt worth a ”flip”!! Water got in the clutch housing and long story short I needed a new clutch and belt. They wouldn’t warranty it because of the water that got in it. What are these bikes made for?? To sit in the garage or be used. Why not make the housing for the belt actually seal worth a “flip” so water couldn’t get in so easily. Y’all make it so it don’t deal up properly and then don’t cover it if water gets inside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything we wanted We actually went into the dealer with the intent of buying two Sportsman ATV's. I had wanted to get a Ranger for some time and we both were not keen on the RZR because it just seemed only trail focused. My girlfriend saw the general and jumped right into the drivers seat. So as they say the rest is history, we went home with the General that day. We love it for the trails. For working around the property. I am looking forward for Ice Fishing season to start. I will eventually put tracks on it for winter time use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reverse headlight and winch switch location Please As a lot of the trails we run at night have buggies going both ways, the need to switch from highly to low beams often is real. Getting my hand down between the small space between the door and steering wheel while moving can be tricky. Moving the witch rocker to the left of the wheel makes more sense as we don’t use that while moving and the head light will then be with the other rocker switches so we can power down the other lights all in the same place/motion. Off not that, then Don’t wrap the harness in such a way that we can’t relocate ourselves. Please find a better air intake solution/location than above the wheel on the side! Most of us don’t drive straight up rivers, we need to cross them, so having the air intake broadside to the current seems silly. My RZR has it between the seats at shoulder height. So the General is supposedly the best of both worlds, it missed the common sense of air intake and rocker switch location. In the accessories area, please come out with a full door solution with a real window solution. Your option now wants me to fold the window forward. Anyone who rides wooded trails will figure out quickly that the window will trap branches and be torn off in short order. Real storage options in the cab please! I don’t baby my General and it hasn’t let me down yet, just need to address the fit and finish issues so I don’t regret not gonna with the CanAm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Have now owned our General for about 4 months, it is simply the best side by side I’ve ever used. Capable of all mud, trails, and use around camp that we have tried. On the recent Lewis County Buck Run I pulled two other ATVs out that we’re stuck after running circles around them in the muck. It throws you back in the seat when you floor it and goes up and down every angle we have tried. My 14 year old step-daughter handles it with ease. If I had one complaint it would be the number of small areas all around the bottom and back that simply fill with mud and are obnoxious to clean.

I love that the full high doors come stock, love all of the accessory options. We have 3 kids so we opted for a bench seat in the back and it’s so nice to have them harnessed up! Surprising to me we’ve actually used the gps quite a bit riding out on forest service land to see where different trails end up and finding new ways back to the truck. We love the sound bar and it was a big selling point for us! Love this machine and would definitely recommend

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor quality Within 2 weeks of buying a new unit the front axle broke. Polaris covered it but it was still in the shop for 2 weeks. Now one side of tailgate doesn’t latch and high beam switch won’t stay on. The unit has 20 hours on it and we only ride around on our 150 acres and don’t ride hard. For 24k it’s not worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged and Sporty! I initially resisted the idea of going to a General because I liked the trail manners and over all capability of my RZR Trail 50". Then I drove my cousin's new General and was so impressed with it's handling, fit and finish, and power to weight I knew I wanted one. Before I even had a chance to comment to my wife ( who was riding with shotgun) she turned to me and said" We have got to get one of these!" So, pretending she had to twist my arm, we made the switch and I couldn't be happier!.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hunter edition general I bought this six months ago, overall somewhat disappointed. The engine had a large oil leak when used in cold weather (possible breather froze and pressured) that did go away after dealer could find no issue. The handles on the full doors are not good, broke driver side handle on the outside of the door after two months with no abuse. This caused me to keep the window open to open the door resulting in the window bracket hitting the seatbelt mount inside the cab and breaking also. The rear window panel release for cab doors hits the seatbelt mount when you shut the door which makes it more difficult to latch the door. Just a bad spot to make the shoulder mount on seatbelt in the same location that the window latch needs to be at when you shut the door. Happy with the suspension, ride, and steering.

Before I picked it up, they installed the high dollar glass windshield and rear window. Shortly after getting it home, the windshield started to show cracks at two different mounting spots. This is with no offroading at all. Just temperature changes. Not getting anywhere with Polaris warranty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The good and the bag I bought the general 1000 the beginning of this year. I also drove the can Am commander driving the two side by side the general was a clear winner. The power of the general is clean and potent the suspension is good but more work than hard play ground clearance is good stock tiers perform exselent seating is comfortable. Plastic on body dose not a line well lots of openings that need protection to keep mud and rocks from damaging critical parts like the battery, fule tank and radiator. Over all an exselent machine but for the money should not need to buy extra protection for basic things like battery, fule tank and radiator.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from polaris general with ride command I've only got a half a tank of fuel ran thru it since I bought it in feb. right off the showroom floor the screen for the ride command wouldn't light up, at all. Should have been a clue. They think they have it fixed this time. HERES HOPING. The stereo does not recognize my ipod in Bluetooth or hooked to the usb port also has no aux port for my serius radio. Needs more clearance the one ride I went on it hit the bottom so many times my grandson said I think we better stop an see if we still have a muffler. He's 6 an we were in a 2 seater. Very disapointed

My only complaints is the roof doesn't go out even or past the doors, so when it rains it will still come in on you. I would like to see either a molded drip rail that would extend out even with the doors or a wider roof with drip rail built in. And my other issue is the fenders, they are practically useless as far as keeping mud and wet limerock etc from spraying all over the sides and in the cab.

Coming from owning a 2014 can am maverick this is a change but I needed a bed Keeps up in trails with other sxs on the market and the rzrs. Yard work the bed really comes in handy for gravel and firewood. Comfortable seats. Doors are an add plus. Corner is okay. Wish there was a selectable power steering like can am has. Drain plugs on the floor fall out easy. You will lose those first. The knock noise as it goes into gear before you press the gas is louder than I’d like but overall it’s a nice machine. I would recommend and have to friends and family

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Polaris General Flaws I purchased a Polaris General and on my first excursion - just a little trail ride for a wiener roast up in the mountains. A stick or rock kicked up and broke the drivers side front inner fender as they are just made of plastic. Replacing this is a very long and tedious effort for the average person. Took me about 15 hours, that is with some help and it is definitely a two person job in some spots. Worse than that there is no after market safety shield to add which makes me even angrier, also I completed the new purchase survey that Polaris sent me and was very up front about this, so much so I thought someone would contact me. I have not been contacted because this is in my opinion a serious safety flaw.

I wish it would work with some of the other systems so it could be used like for the Onx map system to work together. Mine has some issues because it won't keep the mapping that start recording. Keeps deleting, The stereo keeps rising the volume but won't go back down when you let the engine idle back down. Keeps deleting my waypoints

Rated 4 out of 5 by from General I bought this 2 months ago. Got the new automatic plow package and heater. The plow system doesn't fit right to activate the kickstand and was told I had to remove the front brush guard. Well that's not going to happen because the installation schematics all show the front brush guard on the machine. The heater works for a day at a time. The fuse was replaced once by the dealer. Brought it home in working order. 3 days later we got some snow so I fired up the General to do some plowing and the heater wasn't working again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from General vs Ranger Spent months before spring of 2020 trying to decide. Then I got a crew north star xp1000. Nice, but issues. Dust! Transmission! 2021, got the General. I think it is a better machine! The only downfall is the difficulty and expense of making it an Ohio daily machine. No need for AC, but better door uppers, defrost, wipers would be great. Who knows, maybe replace the Ranger w another!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of both worlds I bought this unit because of the capabilities of work and play but have extremely enjoyed the trail riding capabilities it possesses on the trails with the load it can handle. I have been impressed with the power and the ride is comfortable in the seats. My wife and I have enjoyed our time together in our General. Price point is a little steep but I understand why. Overall I have been pleased with this unit. I am a little unhappy about the plastics on the machine not fitting together in some places but what can you do.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great ride, missing attention to detail I have had the bike about 3 months now and pleased overall with the ride, comfort and performance. What I have not liked was the minor issues I have been having, for example; The door don't fit right and rattle all the time, the dump box is the same. The shift indicator came off when away on a long run and could only drive in low, replaced a $2 clip and was back in business. When assembled at the dealership not all bolts were tight and had to torque all the bolts. The belt also made a lot of clunking noise, not sure if this is because of break in but sounds ruff.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre This Polaris continues to exhibit poor fit and finish on the body panels and the seats (upholstery is sub par) -The doors rattle and there are a lot of other creeks and rattles coming from the chassis. Parts are too expensive and I believe the completion is going to win out. In addition the stereo will not allow a blue tooth connection to our I pod . Over all the unit is below average in my opinion. ALSO _ the wheel wells are dirt traps - why these areas do not have a liner and larger wheel flares is beyond be - the unit slings mud and water everywhere instead of deflecting it away fro the passenger compartment

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Josh beitel This is an amazing machine I have owned multiple side by sides and nothing compares to this machine There are few features that need addressed: The speaker that is mounted has no bass so everything you listen to is high pitch which is very frustrating The drain caps in the floor I have 2 of them that pop out regularly when I have guesses riding with boots I am using this machine to hunt and travel from spot to spot When u hit water and it comes up thru a drain plug hole that’s frustrating I love the power great versatility for this hybrid machine

Rated 5 out of 5 by from power, traction and handling super My cousin and I bought a pair of these about two months ago and we are glad we did. I hoped it would deliver the Polaris reliability and so far so good. Haven't put enough hours on it yet to give it a good review but I really like it so far. One thing I can say is that it climbs better than my polaris 800 sportsman quad. These things are unbelievable. The bed is large enough that we can store all of our gear for a day ride without problem. The EPS steering is the only way to go on these.

I also love the fact there are so many things that I can add to it, to make it my own. It handles great, and goes everywhere anybody else does with ease. I have had a couple issues with it which my dealer, in Dunbar WV, took immediate care of. My wife now loves to go riding with me. Awesome machine.

Recently completed Colorado trip riding in mountains, and the Polaris gave me the confidence to explore remote areas I would never have considered in a less reliable UTV. Navigation system and cameras are very helpful. Bed is large enough to use for chores. Perfect combination of fun and utility for me.

After about 3 months of ownership I can say we are very happy with our choice to get one. Gregg at Roseville Motosports helped the decision by giving us a great deal! We have 450 miles on it in 3 months and are loving every minute. The only complaint I have is this machine should come stock with taller tires for more ground clearance.

With the upgraded suspension on the 2018 General... it is by far the smoothest, most powerful UTV around. It has more power than the other brands with 1000cc models and is still quieter. I cant find much indent like about this machine. Just make a better upper door kit and this will be the perfect machine.

We have put it through the test in the sand, snow, mud, rocks and dirt! It has surpassed all of our expectations!! The dump utility bed is a huge plus for our extra gear or work tools. Plenty if power and awesome suspension!! I have recommended this machine to a few people and they bought the same machine, just couldn’t resist!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great I've had this u it for 3 months out of the three months I've gotten to use it 3-4 times, it's been in the shop for over 2 months this is a poor way to start out with a new unit, parts that were suppose to be under warranty are but they have stretched out the repair so long that it's taken all the new and excitement out of mine and my family purchase, but the unit itself when running is very enjoyable!

I decided on the General due to it's great back seat room while maintaining a ride close to the Rzr. My main need now is a soft roof. I am quite tall so I prefer riding without a roof but would like one packed along in the event of in climate weather while on the trails.

My only wish is that it was a little quieter. I understand it's a 1000. So it would be a huge challenging to make it produce souch power and little noise. But I also think that could give a opinion to the consumer for this.

We enjoy packing the General and heading out for a quick overnight camp or even a few days. I will say this. I didn't want to learn the hard way, so a helpful sales person who could explain the "must haves", just in case. Spare tires, spare belt (and a tutorial on how to change it), how to drive on particular terrain and a few others. Thank you, George C

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for I bought this General 4 1000 to replace the two RZR XPs that we had. Prior to the RZRs we had 2 different Ranger XPs. The Ranger was too much utility and not enough sport, and the RZRs were too much sport and not enough utility. The General is a perfect mix of both sport and utility. The 100 HP ProStar engine fits the bill perfectly too.

We decided on the General for the trunk bed feature. Very happy with our purchase. Cabin is quiet compared to Kawasaki. Handles and rides great on the trails.

Amazing machine for trail riding. We spent thousands on accessories to add additional creature comfort and are looking forward to taking it for overnight camping with friends and family.

We rode it hard for the first few trips to find any flows and found a few; nothing with the motor or under structure, only superficial. We were able to change drive belt ourselves (must have right tools) and add accessories, with some modifications. After all this, we have enjoyed our outdoor experiences immensely, mountain trails, desert, even an old side hill stagecoach trail. Very happy with our purchase.

I had to adjust all doors, tailgate, rebuild all the seats to fit in the proper spots, and the radio speakers aren’t working as should due to an issue with ride command updates. The belt lash is terrible and Polaris has not got a hold of me about a fix. Only gave me a free belt and extended warranty a couple months. Which doesn’t fix my problem. The tailgate clips under the handle are a poor design and fall out. And they are a special clip. Would submit a better review if Polaris actually did something about these issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine with the extras I was wanting This new General XP 4 Factory Customer Edition first caught my attention by it's looks alone. Then, seeing all the great features that came standard, like the 30" tires mounted bead-lock wheels, the high-clearance A-arms, and color scheme, I was sold. Having driven this fast and fun beast and how well it handles of all types of trails, leaves no doubt that I made a great decision. To ensure I can ride even in the snowy winter months, I purchased and installed the Polaris upper soft doors. What a great addition and great quality. Had the dealer install the Polaris heater to compliment the upper doors. Stay toasty warm and the wife loves (as do I) everything about this machine. I've also added other options and even designed and fabricated my own rear rack to accommodate a spare tire, gas can and fire extinguisher. Photos are pre upper doors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Ride Overall I like it. It rides great. Has plenty of power. There are a couple things I'm not impressed with though. First, at 250 miles the front tires had wore almost a half inch off the tread. After some research I found out they are apparently set up for high speed off road cornering. So they are toed out. If someone would have told me that I could have set it up for more on road riding like we do and saved us on our tires. Secondly I wasn't expecting the plastics to be falling apart as much as they are. We have 600 miles on it now and more than one piece is loose. Its a atv I get its not car quality, id expect for 30k it would be a bit better though. My only other complaint is just the nature of the beast. It gets HOT in the cab on a warm day. We only have a front and rear windshield. Probably should invest in a vented front windshield in the future. Overall though I think we are happy with the machine

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good ride but already issues This vehicle was purchased in June and I have had many issues with the machine. This weekend while out riding, one of the rear shocks leaked. It seems like an issue occurs each time I look at the vehicle. Both of the rear doors were not adjusted correctly from the factory and it caused both rear doors to have paint chipping from the corners. Overall it has been stressful and always something to worry about. I did not have these issues with our old Ranger. The ride of the vehicle has been a big upgrade and it is very enjoyable.

The seats, doors, suspension, gauges, and so many other features make the general XP a great machine. It comes with a winch, radio, full doors, and front bumper with 30" pro armor tires. That being said I give it 4 stars only for the lack of power compared to a normal XP 1000 RZR.

Took it back to the dealer and 3 weeks later my full OEM doors still seal like crap. Kind of makes the heater worthless. You pay a bunch of money for parts that aren’t really worth that much money and expect a superior product. The Can-am defender door seal and that heater will cook you out of the machine. Why is it that I can buy new doors for a car for less then I can for a general? I know I’m not the only customer that’s unhappy with this product. I suggest you look into making these better. Oh and what about the ride command why is it that the speakers only work on the front channel? There are plenty more gripes I have but I think you get the point.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the Machine But Not the Exhaust Noise Great ride! Great machine! But the exhaust noise takes away from the enjoyment of being in it. Polaris offers nothing to resolve this issue. Seconds market cost for a muffler to reduce noise by 9 decibels is exorbitant. Other than that, I love everything else about my General XP 4 1000 Deluxe.

While deer hunting it gave me a dependable ride in a a comfortable seat. It drove through some deep ice covered water holes on our old logging two track trail into our hinting area. The four seats allowed us to transport all camp members and gear. At home it has been a workhorse plowing out our driveway in the heart of winter in Michigan. Added windows, roof liner, and heater, allow me to get the driveway clear in comfort.

People are very surprised when they see the design and performance capabilities of this machine. The ample storage and the easy to install accessories are great. I am very happy with the Ride Command. I would recommend spending the extra money for that option.

I put it thru it’s paces for about 400 miles the first month having it scouting for an upcoming elk hunt and was really impressed with this machine. It has great power, handles any terrain I put it thru exceptionally well, has a very comfortable ride even with being in the seat hours at a time, and has great features. This is not my first side by side but is definitely the one that has impressed me the most. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase of this machine. Only drawback is that I can’t hook a two way radio up thru the Ride Command system. Other than that it is a great overall machine that I would definitely recommend, in fact my brother in law was so impressed with it that he has ordered a 2021 as well.

Some other features would be nice to see as standard components, such as: front windshield, heater, turn signals, horn kit & the addition of soft coverings on several exposed metal components in the cab. Belt slap noise has been an issue since the first day of riding...sucks that an aftermarket vendor has a $400.00 clutch kit available to fix and improve the clutch on this high price point machine that Polaris should have already addressed by recall with new & improved clutch components. The engine oil filter is also very difficult to remove and replace...could use a remote oil filter to improve ease of access. We do love the powerful engine, tires, great headlights and spacious cab.

Paid good money for this machine and all these problems with no solution. No I’m not very satisfied or happy. I had a 2012 rzr 900xp that was bulletproof. Sold it for this piece of junk.

Biggest complaint is the Hitch! it was SO hard to get anything into it like Bike rack or a hitch and ball to pull a small trailer. Then, when I was able to get bike rack in (Yakima 4 vertical mountain bike rack) the hitch mount bent so fast and now has bent so much I can't even use it. Metal was too soft. seriously a weak point!

You stay clean and dust free on rides, others in our group asked if we were on the same ride because we were so clean while they were covered in dust. The only complaint I have is the Ride Command stereo doesn't have the sound quality you would expect for the price tag, the subwoofer basically doesn't do anything for sound.

Amazing comfort and stability. Plenty of power. Only negative things about it: chattering noises when starting to move forward in high gear, Very noisy when coming down a hill (transmission holding back?) And the placement of the oil filter ( hard to get to).

Accessories for this product not very available for example upper doors been on back order for months, took 2 weeks to get a windshield/rear window and upper bumper because it was backordered from the factory, dealer had to do dealer trade to get me the accessories i had originally ordered.

I had to adjust all doors, tailgate, rebuild all the seats to fit in the proper spots, and the radio speakers aren’t working as should due to an issue with ride command updates. The belt lash is terrible and Polaris has not got a hold of me about a fix. Only gave me a free belt and extended warranty a couple months. Which doesn’t fix my problem. The tailgate clips under the handle are a poor design and fall out. And they are a special clip. Would submit a better review if Polaris actually did something about these issues.

Then, seeing all the great features that came standard, like the 30" tires mounted bead-lock wheels, the high-clearance A-arms, and color scheme, I was sold. Having driven this fast and fun beast and how well it handles of all types of trails, leaves no doubt that I made a great decision. To ensure I can ride even in the snowy winter months, I purchased and installed the Polaris upper soft doors. What a great addition and great quality. Had the dealer install the Polaris heater to compliment the upper doors. Stay toasty warm and the wife loves (as do I) everything about this machine. I've also added other options and even designed and fabricated my own rear rack to accommodate a spare tire, gas can and fire extinguisher. Photos are pre upper doors.

First, at 250 miles the front tires had wore almost a half inch off the tread. After some research I found out they are apparently set up for high speed off road cornering. So they are toed out. If someone would have told me that I could have set it up for more on road riding like we do and saved us on our tires. Secondly I wasn't expecting the plastics to be falling apart as much as they are. We have 600 miles on it now and more than one piece is loose. Its a atv I get its not car quality, id expect for 30k it would be a bit better though. My only other complaint is just the nature of the beast. It gets HOT in the cab on a warm day. We only have a front and rear windshield. Probably should invest in a vented front windshield in the future. Overall though I think we are happy with the machine

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good ride but already issues This vehicle was purchased in June and I have had many issues with the machine. This weekend while out riding, one of the rear shocks leaked. It seems like an issue occurs each time I look at the vehicle. Both of the rear doors were not adjusted correctly from the factory and it caused both rear doors to have paint chipping from the corners. Overall it has been stressful and always something to worry about. I did not have these issues with our old Ranger. The ride of the vehicle has been a big upgrade and it is very enjoyable.

The seats, doors, suspension, gauges, and so many other features make the general XP a great machine. It comes with a winch, radio, full doors, and front bumper with 30" pro armor tires. That being said I give it 4 stars only for the lack of power compared to a normal XP 1000 RZR.

Took it back to the dealer and 3 weeks later my full OEM doors still seal like crap. Kind of makes the heater worthless. You pay a bunch of money for parts that aren’t really worth that much money and expect a superior product. The Can-am defender door seal and that heater will cook you out of the machine. Why is it that I can buy new doors for a car for less then I can for a general? I know I’m not the only customer that’s unhappy with this product. I suggest you look into making these better. Oh and what about the ride command why is it that the speakers only work on the front channel? There are plenty more gripes I have but I think you get the point.

Polaris offers nothing to resolve this issue. Seconds market cost for a muffler to reduce noise by 9 decibels is exorbitant. Other than that, I love everything else about my General XP 4 1000 Deluxe.

While deer hunting it gave me a dependable ride in a a comfortable seat. It drove through some deep ice covered water holes on our old logging two track trail into our hinting area. The four seats allowed us to transport all camp members and gear. At home it has been a workhorse plowing out our driveway in the heart of winter in Michigan. Added windows, roof liner, and heater, allow me to get the driveway clear in comfort.

I put it thru it’s paces for about 400 miles the first month having it scouting for an upcoming elk hunt and was really impressed with this machine. It has great power, handles any terrain I put it thru exceptionally well, has a very comfortable ride even with being in the seat hours at a time, and has great features. This is not my first side by side but is definitely the one that has impressed me the most. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase of this machine. Only drawback is that I can’t hook a two way radio up thru the Ride Command system. Other than that it is a great overall machine that I would definitely recommend, in fact my brother in law was so impressed with it that he has ordered a 2021 as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed! The General did not live up to my expectations given it’s overall price point. The engine is extremely very noisy even with a back window installation. Some other features would be nice to see as standard components, such as: front windshield, heater, turn signals, horn kit & the addition of soft coverings on several exposed metal components in the cab. Belt slap noise has been an issue since the first day of riding...sucks that an aftermarket vendor has a $400.00 clutch kit available to fix and improve the clutch on this high price point machine that Polaris should have already addressed by recall with new & improved clutch components. The engine oil filter is also very difficult to remove and replace...could use a remote oil filter to improve ease of access. We do love the powerful engine, tires, great headlights and spacious cab.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 2020 General XP 4 review Problems with belt slap, ride command volume, shock tender springs collapsed already, driver rear wheel 3 degrees difference than passenger side, doors were all loose, fixed myself, called Polaris on belt slap still waiting on solution. Paid good money for this machine and all these problems with no solution. No I’m not very satisfied or happy. I had a 2012 rzr 900xp that was bulletproof. Sold it for this piece of junk.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from tow hitch soft and under built Hey Polaris. All in all i am really psyched on the General. It rules. Biggest complaint is the Hitch! it was SO hard to get anything into it like Bike rack or a hitch and ball to pull a small trailer. Then, when I was able to get bike rack in (Yakima 4 vertical mountain bike rack) the hitch mount bent so fast and now has bent so much I can't even use it. Metal was too soft. seriously a weak point!

You stay clean and dust free on rides, others in our group asked if we were on the same ride because we were so clean while they were covered in dust. The only complaint I have is the Ride Command stereo doesn't have the sound quality you would expect for the price tag, the subwoofer basically doesn't do anything for sound.

Amazing comfort and stability. Plenty of power. Only negative things about it: chattering noises when starting to move forward in high gear, Very noisy when coming down a hill (transmission holding back?) And the placement of the oil filter ( hard to get to).

Accessories for this product not very available for example upper doors been on back order for months, took 2 weeks to get a windshield/rear window and upper bumper because it was backordered from the factory, dealer had to do dealer trade to get me the accessories i had originally ordered.
